I make stuff ….. cause I get sad if I don’t
My name is Marjorie Phipps and I’m a crafting addict. I’m also a mother, grandmother, wife, part-time retail sales clerk and full time crafter. Throughout the years I’ve been crafting, I’ve done almost every craft there is to be done. I started as a teen when my mother taught me how to sew and knit. A family friend taught me how to crochet….and in the next 40 years or so I also did needlepoint, hand embroidery, cross stitch, paper mache, painting, stenciling, clay sculpting, macreme and more.
While working in the IT industry I was asked if I wanted to build a website… well… YEAH. So add websites and image manipulation to my list of “crafty” endeavors. My husband and I remodeled our two houses in Florida doing construction, tile, paint, wallpaper, wiring, plumbing and more. We then sold them to move to Kentucky where we started an alpaca farm, built several barns and put up fencing. The alpaca farm brought me heavily into the world of natural fibers. I learned to evaluate the fleece and fiber from my herd and how to clean and process it into yarn. I also learned several ways to dye the yarn. So add skirting, washing, carding and spinning fibers, dying and weaving to list.
Along the way I have always owned a sewing machine. A few years ago I bought a new one that also did embroidery and I was hooked. I’ve been sitting on the fence about getting a multi-needle machine for embroidery. On August 24, 2020 I jumped off the fence and ordered a Babylock Venture! … down the Rabbit Hole We Go !
